Yen Tu - The scenic area




The heritage area of Yen Tu is a complex of pagodas, towers, statues, ancient trees and natural landscape scattered from the foot of Red slopeup to the summit of Yen Tu mountain.

Yen Tu is the cradle of Truc Lam Zen generated from the late of 13th century. Joins in the bow of mountains in the Northeast, Yen Tu has its peak at an altitude of 1.068m to sea level as Dong Pagoda. From long time ago, mountain and forest of Yen Tu has been so popular and listed into the list of famous destinations of Vietnam.
As early as in the 10th century, there was Yen Ky Sinh the monk who had come here to practice Buddhism and got enlightenment but Yen Tu only got its fame when king Tran Nhan Tong, in the heyday of the dynasty, stepped down from the throne and came here to study Buddhism, later became the first Buddha of the pagoda in the late 13th century.

Since then, Yen Tu became the capital of the Vietnamese Buddhism, marked the start of philosophy and ideology development of the people. Today through many ups and downs, the remaining relics found in Yen Tu Pagoda are 11 pagodas and hundreds of the towers, steles, statues, converged of multiple styles of architecture, sculpture of the times. Today the cable car system has been used to help tourists enjoy Yen Tu, bringing visitors to Hoa Yen Pagoda at 534m altitude to the sea level, where there are two 700-year-old trees.

From there, travelers can continue to climb to Dong pagoda. On the path to Dong pagoda, visitors feel like walking in the clouds. When the weather is clear, tourists can admire the beauty of the Northeast. Yen Tu Festival starts on the 10th January (lunar month) and lasts till the end of the March (lunar month).
