Kim Quy cave

Kim Quy cave is located on the Nam Dam island, with its peaks at 187m high. Ahead of it is the island of Dam Bac and behind is Soi Sim island. The cave is 100m long from north to south and the width varies from 5m to 10m. There is a small path leading high up above, where there is a murmuring water current for four seasons. The stalactites are soft white peeled down from the ceiling.

The cave is associated with the legend of the Golden Turtle. The story goes that after helping king Le Loi defeat the enemy, the Golden Turtle regained the sword at Ta Vong lake (after the incident the lake got its name "Hoan Kiem" which means "the return of the sword") and the Turtle got its way to Halong bay where it met many more demonic harassment so that it stayed to fight them. Today, in the Kim Quy cave, the Golden Turtle is still there in sleeping posture with the old wounds on its body.
