Mat Rong island




If a few years ago Coto, Quan Lan islands are interested by many people, recently it's the island of Mat Rong. Mat Rong in vietnamese means the dragon's eye. The island has an area of ​​about 30 hectares, also known by the name of Hon Bai Dong. It is located in the south of the Halong Bay, adjacent to Lan Ha Bay area.
The attraction of Mat Rong is in its primitive character. If you are afford to make a trip by seaplane, you will be able to admire the entire Halong Bay from above and will see why this island has got its name.
The island lies among the majestic mountains. And when if you see the cool clear water of the island you will just want to wallow into it all day long where you are able to see through to the bottom of it.

Currently, the services on the island are very limited but perhaps this is also another advantage of the island that makes it interesting to people who have desires for true natural beauty to set foot on the island of the Dragon's Eye.
From Bai Chay pier you can buy tickets to go to Mat Rong. It takes you about 2 ½ hours to get there. Besides, you can also go to the pier Jumbo Ocean and take the speedboat to the island in about 30-45 minutes.
Remember to prepare yourself with food and accessories because the services there is almost none. If you want  to spend the night camping on the island, you need to inform the boat owner to pick you up the next day. However mind yourself that there is no fresh water on the island so if you intend to stay overnight, be well prepared.

Beside the usual activities such as swimming, hiking... and you can also participate in such services as kayaking, high speed canoeing... or bring materials to host a BBQ party lively on the seaside. Do not forget to clean up garbage after your party.
