Titop Island is in Halong Bay of Halong city, Quang Ninh. It's about 7-8 km to the southeast from Bai Chay Tourist Wharf. Titop island has a sandy beach in crescent shape. The sand is washed white by sea tides for all four seasons. Until the end of the 19th century, the island was still called Cat Nang (sand & sunshine). But later, on the 22 November 1962, President Ho Chi Minh invited the Soviet Union astronaut Gherman Titov to visit the island and he wanted to highlight the trip by renaming in to Titop island. The island has a steep slope and a flat & white sand bank right beneath.
