Con Coc islet



Con Coc islet is such a beautiful work of the Creator that has been given to the nature and  human here.

Con Coc islet is 12 km to the southeast from Bai Chay Tourist Wharf on Halong Bay. This rocky mountain looks like a toad sit waiting for the rain among the vast water. To Vietnamese, the toad is called the uncle of God owying to a fairy tales that people tell each other from generation to generation about the arduous operation of an animals group dying of drought. They went to Heaven together to demande the Jade Emperor to make rain. The group leading by Toad was so brave and intellegent finally made the Emperor give rain to the earth. In the end, God even had to call Toad uncle and everytime Toad grit the teeth the Heaven makes a rain on the earth. It's such a natural phenomenon but explained in a fairy tale to keep children from doing harm to the small creatures showing kind minds of the Vietnamese. Today, Con Coc islet still stands tall in Halong Bay, a nice spot of the trip to beautiful Halong Bay.
